Permission to Skate Forms

OWHA Rules define the conditions that must be met in order for a player to participate in practices or tryouts with an association other than their own:

OWHA BY-LAW ARTICLE EIGHT - Player Movement/Tryouts
(A) (1) "Permission to Skate" forms must be filled out and signed by a designated executive member of the player's current association and presented to the association/team for which the player wishes to try out before she is allowed on the ice.
Failure to comply will result in a minimum two (2) game suspension for the offending player and/or head coach.

Permission to Skate forms are time-limited and are valid for the specified period recorded on the form.  Permission to Skate forms are valid commencing August 13, 2021 - players may not participate in any practice or tryouts with an association other than their own prior to this date.

Permission to Skate forms are required for situations such as the following:

1. A player currently registered with the Brampton Canadettes Girls Hockey Association who wishes to attend a tryout session with another OWHA organization will require a Permission to Skate form to be issued by the BCGHA.

2. Any player who wishes to attend a tryout session with the Brampton Canadettes, but is currently registered with another OWHA affiliated association will require a Permission to Skate form to be issued from their current association.

3. For players currently registered with an OMHA affiliated association or team (i.e. boys hockey), eligibility is determined by the last girls hockey association they were previously registered to.  Current OMHA registered players who were last registered with an OWHA affiliated association other than the Brampton Canadettes will require a Permission to Skate form issued by that association.

Non-BCGHA players requiring a Permission to Skate form to attend a Brampton Canadettes tryout must obtain the required form from their current association.  The process for obtaining a Permission to Skate form is different for each organization.  Please contact your current association for more information on their process.  Only original forms are to be presented at each respective tryout; copies, facsimiles and/or scans of forms will not be accepted.

Current BCGHA members requesting a Permission to Skate form must fill out the online application.

A separate Permission to Skate form will need to be issued for each team and/or association the player wishes to tryout for.  If this applies, please provide all information in your request.  Copies, facsimiles and scans will not be accepted.

Permission to Skate forms will not be issued until the week of August 1, 2021.

Player Release forms are no longer requested by players. A player release is requested through the OWHA registration system by the association wishing to acquire the player.  Releases are issued directly to the association electronically.  Releases will only be granted to players for whom all team and Canadettes dues have been paid in full.

For the regulations regarding permission to skate and releases, please refer to the OWHA Handbook . Please contact the BCGHA Secretary if any additional information is required.
