U18 AA Coaching Announcement
The Brampton Canadettes are thrilled to announce Brittney Cosmo and Candace Kourounis as the successful candidates for our U18 AA program for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons.  Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge, passion and experience to our organization.  We are very excited to have you aboard and can't wait to work with you!  Congratulations!!!!



Brittney Cosmo:

Brittney is a High Performance 1 certified coach and a former member of the Nipissing Lakers Women’s hockey team. While at Nipissing, Brittney received an All Canadian Academic Award receipt for achieving Academic and Athletic Excellence.

As a coach, Brittney has always coached at the AA level for 8 years, pushing athletes to great achievements; including coaching 40+ athletes to achieve U18 Team Canada, U16 Summer Games, U18 Team Ontario, OUA and D1/D2 Scholarship Opportunities.

Outside of hockey, Brittney has facilitated Team Ontario Basketball and Volleyball camps and facilitated a Special Needs Assistance Program for neurodiverse athletes. In January, Brittney was selected to be an Assistant Coach for the 2006 Team Ontario All-Star exhibition game against the Canada Winter Games U18 Team.

Last summer, Brittney was an Assistant coach at the 2022 U16 Summer Games where her team won a Silver Medal. She was a high performance coach at the 2022 Ontario U18 Player and Goalie Camps. In April 2023, Brittney was selected as an Off-Ice official for the IIHF 2023 Women's World Championships including being selected as an Off-Ice Official for the Gold Medal Game. For the upcoming U18 National Championships, Brittney has been selected as Team Ontario Red Video Coach. 

Outside the rink, Brittney is an Elementary School teacher. Her education includes; Physical Education Degree - Brock University, Bachelor of Education Degree - Nipissing University and Masters of Education Degree - Nipissing University.

Candace Kourounis:

Coach Candace is an Assistant Coach with the York University Lions Women’s Hockey team and has coached at the U18AA level for 6 years. She is a High Performance 1 Certified Coach and a Development 1 Clinic Evaluator. At the end of the month, Candace will be featured on the Coaches Site for Minor Hockey Week, discussing How to Run Effective Tryouts and Best Practices for Player Evaluations. 

As a former USport player of 5 years and assistant captain with the University of Windsor, Candace understands the nature of being a student-athlete, and the pressures that accompany athletes when juggling both academics and elite athletics. 

This past April, Candace was selected as an Off-Ice official for the IIHF 2023 Women's World Championships and was selected for the Gold Medal game.
In Summer 2022, Candace was selected as Assistant Coach for Team Fillier, winning silver.   

Outside the rink, Candace has worked in Youth and Amateur Hockey Development for the Pittsburgh Penguins and now works for Canlan Sports managing Youth Hockey events across North America.
